“ImmescherableTM” means the immeasurable value gained by transforming the multiple areas of intellectual property (IP) into the clear picture created by a comprehensive IP strategy implemented with organized, efficient, and effective processes.
ImmescherableTM Consulting bridges the knowledge and communication gap between business strategy and IP counseling to build the cooperative relationship required to successfully carry out that comprehensive IP strategy.
On the one hand, we collaborate with businesses to formulate a corporate IP strategy and integrate IP processes to support that strategy, while at the same time broadening the understanding of IP and maximizing return on outside counsel spend. On the other hand, we arm attorneys with methods for increasing their effectiveness in serving clients for long-term success.
Our mission is to solidify the partnership between business stakeholders and IP practitioners to build IP policies that maximize IP positioning through open communication and information sharing.
Our vision is for every member of the C-Suite to be confident that all areas of IP are aligned with their business plan and compliant, while every IP practitioner is seen as an integral business partner in efficiently executing their client’s IP strategy.
Meet the Founder
Vickie Molenda was raised in a small, rural town in Delaware. She learned work ethic and organizational skills from her father, who was a salesman and retail manager, and embraced the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit from both her step-mother, who owned a homemade crafts business, and mother, who is a cosmetologist and was a small business owner.
She left her small town to pursue her love of science and desire to help people by majoring in Medical Technology at the University of Delaware. After graduation, Vickie conducted research on new diagnostic PCR tests for infectious diseases at NIH and was published in peer-reviewed journals. It was during this time that she decided to go to law school part-time in the hopes of having a broader impact on healthcare.
When Vickie arrived at the American University Washington College of Law, she met patent examiners from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office who exposed her to the world of intellectual property (IP). She became active in the DC IP community and ultimately secured an associate position at Hunton & Williams LLP, where she developed her foundation of IP skills. She later joined the IP boutique Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in New York City where she managed significant patent portfolios for biopharma companies and gained copyright experience in a litigation matter.
She then joined Pfizer Inc. shortly after its acquisition of Wyeth, LLC. Vickie was immediately tasked with the rebuilding of the IP group supporting Vaccines Research. Within a few months, she transitioned all patent prosecution matters for the various programs under her purview, from research to post-market approval, in-house from outside counsel. She then formed collaborative relationships with R&D colleagues and learned the multiple aspects of the biopharma industry to build a strong portfolio for those programs. Accordingly, she was able to get the first U.S. patent protecting a multi-billion dollar product granted after several others had failed over many years. By comparison, a U.S. patent was granted quickly for a new vaccine where she drafted the application after partnering with research colleagues at every step of development.
After taking some time away from IP for her family and to help establish a nonprofit organization, Vickie joined Mondelēz International, Inc. (MDLZ). While there, she led all patent-related aspects of the $1.3B acquisition of the confectionery business, Ricolino, from Grupo Bimbo and assisted with the $1.35B divestiture of MDLZ’s gum business in major markets to Perfetti Van Pelle SpA. She also provided patent support to MDLZ’s North America Ventures and investment businesses, in addition to its most proliferative category of products.
It was her work with the ventures and investment businesses that Vickie realized her creativity, ability to harness complex processes, and expertise in IP could work together. She founded ImmescherableTM Consulting to build more collaborative relationships between businesses and legal counsel through information sharing and process improvements.
